Split

Third photo shows the outdoor cafes located right outside the Diocletian's Palace. This was built by the former Roman emperor as his retirement home, which was really a city. Back then, the sidewalk and concrete did not exist where the cafes are today. The water started right at the entrance and the emperor's boats were able to sail up to the entrance in case he needed to escape quickly.
