Outdoor Festivals in Frankfurt

We stumbled on a few outdoor festivals as we were walking around Frankfurt. They even have a man rolling fresh cigars.

One Night in Frankfurt

The first two photos are of Frankfurt's beautiful opera house. The other photos show stands in one of Frankfurt's many outdoor festivals.

The Romberg - Frankfurt

This is the quiant, cobbblestoned Old Town in Frankfurt. Surrounding the Romberg are all the modern skyscrapers and buildings in the city.

Unexpected Night in Frankfurt

On our way home, we were changing planes in Frankfurt when the airline asked for volunteers to give up their seats since the flight was overbooked. We volunteered and had the unexpected opportunity to see Frankfurt for one day. We left for NY the next morning.

More Zagreb Snacks

Outdoor Festival in Zagreb

This is the main square in Zagreb. Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and suprisingly doesn't really have any tourists, compared to other parts of the country. It seemed like there were many traditional artisans and costumes and we seemed to be the only tourists in the crowd. It was a lot of fun!

Seeing "The Da Vinci Code" in Zagreb

We saw "The Da Vinci Code" at a beautiful theatre. There is a bar in the lobby with beautiful seating. After buying your ticket, you select your seats in the theater. What a concept.

Funicular to the Bell Tower - Zagreb

This old funicular takes people to and from the top of Zagreb in 1 minute.

Zagreb's Bell Tower

This is the same building where they fire the cannon daily at noon.

The bell, a few floors above the cannon. Here are the views from the bell tower, in between the cannon and the bell.

Zagreb's Cannon

Me standing next to the cannon that is fired every single day at noon. The man in the photo is the person who fires the cannon daily, for years. When you aren't prepared, the cannon is VERY LOUD. People are waiting around below the bell tower to take a shot and miss the picture because the sound is scary. I was right behind the cannon when he fired, and had my ears covered. They also allow you to watch from behind glass in the same room.
